Episode #143 of DXP begins with a discussion of the pros and cons of online dating. We talk about whether the old stigmas still apply, how to use True Pheromones to create a good first impression, and whether it’s harder for men or for women. We discuss our TV watching habits, after which we take a call from a listener who asks whether there is a grand conspiracy on the part of the secular media to cover up the evidence for God’s existence, and if so, does that mean that atheistic scientists are dishonest and suppressing truths they know deep down are real? We delve into some personal territory involving issues like co-habitation, marriage, and to what degree children should affect our decisions on these matters. Our “Feeding Friendsy” segment involves people who try to be openminded but can’t, and this week’s “Dick Move, God” introduces us to a guy who can’t help but feel he has been cruelly toyed with his whole life. Christian is biebered by climate change advocates and deniers, while Jason’s bieber involves having too many friends.
Also, never draw attention to a black man by following him around screaming about his race.

• “Hi, everyone, God here. Just checking back in to see how you all are doing. We’ve been getting a lot of immigrants from your planet lately and I just wanted to see what’s going on here… oh…oh…oh, dear… what have you- okay, seriously? Wow… No wonder my son gave your planet a one-star Yelp review and doesn’t seem to want to come back. Jesus? Jesus? You’re a carpenter, right? I need a quote a big wall to make Heaven great again.
• The Ark of the Covenant opening up and melting all the Nazis would be pretty good proof of God’s existence too.
• I like the view of marriage from Catholicism too, even though I don’t necessarily agree with it. It sanctifies marriage.
• That being said, the practice of individual Catholics is often contrary to it.
• Is that evidence that the position is antiquated and impractical in a world full of flawed, messy people with messy lives? Or is that evidence that many will fall short of a perfect standard? Even in that ‘perfect’ standard of marriage, a lot of couples do marriage wrong, have struggles, act selfishly, and generally carry baggage.
• There you go, get a Domestic Partnership.
• If you meet a 49 year-old that looks like a 30 year-old, it’s probably a vampire.
• Look, we all know you’re only an agnostic because you want to sin.
• Well, Jesus said that his followers would do greater works than these, so we should all be able to go down to the hospitals and heal everyone there.
• Every year except for one in the last 16 years has been the hottest year on record.
• We’re not going to do anything to save ourselves because we’re stupid. Also, Jesus is going to rapture us before anything really bad happens or as I quoted earlier this week, “The Lord tells me he can get me out of this mess, but he’s pretty sure you’re f***ed.”

And if you meet a girl who’s above an 8 hot and below a 4 crazy, that’s a dude….

Hey! Did I hear you mention there was a DXP discussion group on Facebook? As a groupie who has recently become friends with Jason (although probably un-followed), I would love to join and discuss shit.

I think this is from a previous episode since I’m all behind on my podcasts, but I can’t remember which one, so it’s going here. Jason, you’ve used the “unity in diversity” thing about the trinity maybe two or three times now, and it makes sense, but how much diversity is there really between those three? I guess when I think of diversity I think of divergences in background and worldview and life experience, etc.
Serena
Jason, I thought there was more wiggle room if your first marriage was not a Catholic ceremony (i.e non-sacramental)
JasonStellman
Well, I am pretty sure we’d need two annulments, and once those were procured we’d need to have a Catholic wedding. Then lots of confession….

Well to my mind it doesn’t really matter how “diverse,” say, the Spirit is from the Son. What matters for me is that they are distinct Persons (according to traditional theology). This is one of those grace/nature dialectical things, since any desire we as humans have for BOTH unity AND diversity is just a reflection of a divine reality. Other theologies, both polytheistic and unitarian, have either unity swallowing diversity or the other way around.

Sticktoitiveness is a crap word man, tenacity is what you’re looking for, or maybe perseverance. Irregardlessly, not cool man.
